~Frontier : Elite 2
A cheat and location of a great ship.
~The Cheat
This may have already appeared in Cheet Sheets, but seeing that
there are so many of you having problems with this game, here it
is (again ?) .......
The cheat is right at the start of the game and gives you a far
better chance of attaining that illustrious Elite status right
from the off. Just a couple of mouse clicks and you can be
rolling in more wealth than you could ever use.
Here's how it works. When you start the game, dump everything
on your ship, including the drive, weapons and scanner. Buy a
passenger cabin and then go to the bulletin board, and take on
the first job you find that involves carrying a passenger to a
different system.
Now go to the shipyard and take a look at the ships on offer.
Choose to view a ship that costs less than yours is worth.
You'll know this because the trade-in price will be a minus
figure. Obviously you cannot buy a different ship because you
have passengers on board your ship. Or can you??
Click on buy, and a message will appear at the bottom of the
screen informing you that you cannot buy, for the reason stated
above. Yet for some reason you will have been given the
trade-in price anyway. Keep clicking on buy, and your money
will begin to soar. When you have enough, re-equip your ship,
remembering to buy fuel. Refuel your main engine, and then
carry out the mission you have accepted. When you have reached
your destination, dump your ship, buy the one you've always
wanted and the equip it to the hilt. Frontier should now
become a hell of a lot easier.
~Location of probably the best craft.
There is one more ship to be found and flown in Frontier, and
not surprisingly it's the best possible ship you could lay your
hands on. Rumours have abounded since the game appeared that
there was a Thargoid ship hidden somewhere in the game. (If
you didn't play the original Elite, then this needs a small
explanation. Thargoids were a strange alien race that hid in
'witch space' - the dimension you pass through when you travel
through hyperspace worm holes. Their large, flat octagonal
ships were almost indestructible, and although you could drop
into witch space by choice, only a hero or a fool would actually
choose to. Thargoids knew this, and would 'suck' crafts out of
hyperspace and then attack them, stealing their cargo and
killing them into the bargain. Many years later, in the time
that Frontier is set, the Thargoids seem to have vanished off
the face of the galaxy )
Well, I can happily announce that this ship does in fact exist.
It's called the Mirage and can he found at the edge of the
galaxy. However, before you can find it, there are a few
things you need to do:
Firstly, you need to he Elite status, so don't hope to stumble
upon it early in the game Travel to the edge of the galaxy, and
before too long, you'll find it. When you know where it is,
you only need three more things. The first is the top rating
in the Imperial Navy, that of Prince. When you have it, the
Empire's flagship will approach you and you'll receive a message
that reads "The Big Man requires a mercenary for a right hand
man. That's you ". You have now climbed the ladder as far as
possible. You'll also need a user ident from the Sirius
Corporation. The only way to get this is from the Managing
Director of the Sirius Corporation, who you should already know
is a bit of a tough cookie. Finally you need a large amount of
Military Fuel, so prepare to dump all your cargo and
non-essential items. Then the Mirage is yours!
Here are the stats for the Mirage.
Happy hunting!
